A Mission Essay

Towards Trans-Cultural Excellence says it all.

Real excellence in this bedeviled ánd simultaneously blessed world we live in, will be attained when we fully accept the other as embedded in and nurtured by the culture(s) she or he represents: embodies – feels in the soul – is inspired by.

Quite some thought has been devoted to the meme of diversity – accepting otherness unfolding within our own bosom, within the boundaries of the territories with which we identify our culture(s).

And quite some thought has been devoted also to the meme of interculturality – learning the differences between cultures – so that when we venture out of our known territories into foreign land, we'd better be aware that our foot sticking out into the other chap's face means trouble.

Well-documented
research commissioned by the corporate learning centre of a global player has shown however that the main vector of intercultural adaptation, osmosis and communication is the fact that one speaks the other person's language.

As long as we stick to the “professional tourist” or "tourist professional"'s manual of the do's and don'ts in the other's territory – only paying lip-service to what should be outward-bound diversity and genuine intercultural growth – , we will never be accepted by the other –
accepted, that is, to the point of being seen as his or her preferred partner – in business or otherwise.

But when we make the effort to identify with the other – which means: up to the point of embracing his or her culture – which means: up to the point of learning to speak at least the initial phrases of mutual acknowledgement among persons – the “You are another I, and I am another You” of the famous American-Indian saying – ,
THEN all our “intercultural blunders” will be forgiven.

Learning the other person's language is the single most important token of our acceptance of him or her, and hence – and hence, of our acceptance by her or him.

It is by achieving this linguistic, and thereby cultural, and hence intercultural, excellence, that we will be able to overcome the limitations of monoculturality, and invite our partners to shape the future, Trans-Cultural, world.

How could this philosophy of integrative language learning coaching which is ours at
LTC*Circuit's, be born elsewhere than in Brussels, the capital of Belgium?

In a country that is the hinge between the world of Germanic and Romance languages, the hinge also between Atlantic and Continental imperial aspirations – and in a town, Brussels, speckled with all nationalities of Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, the Americas and the Near, Middle and Far East?

And there – even we, in love with the world's cultures and languages and bent on helping you learn them – almost forgot the brave Inuit from Greenland, and the aboriginal shaman of dream-time…

We invite you to a small discovery of what we wish to accomplish, and accomplish trying.
